5 Signs Your Shopify Store Needs a Conversion Audit cover

It's tempting to treat a sales plateau as a traffic problem. Run more ads, chase more reach, hope volume fixes it. But for most Shopify stores we look at, the leak isn't at the top of the funnel. It's somewhere between the landing page and the checkout confirmation. More traffic into a leaky funnel just means more wasted spend.

1. Your add-to-cart rate is fine, but checkout completion isn't

If people are adding products but abandoning at checkout, the problem usually isn't interest. It's friction. Extra form fields, a confusing shipping calculator, a payment method your customers don't trust, or a page that takes an extra two seconds to load on mobile. Each of those is a fixable, specific thing, not a vague "conversion problem."

2. Mobile and desktop convert at very different rates

A large gap between mobile and desktop conversion is one of the clearest signals a CRO audit will pay for itself. Most Shopify traffic today is mobile-first, so if your desktop experience was the one that got all the design attention, that gap is costing you every day.

3. You've never actually watched a session recording

Analytics tells you where people dropped off. Session recordings tell you why. If you're making funnel decisions purely from aggregate metrics without ever watching how a real visitor actually moved through your store, you're optimizing blind.

4. Your product pages are doing the store's only selling

If your product pages are strong but your collection pages, search results, and cross-sell moments are an afterthought, you're relying on one part of the funnel to carry the entire store. A proper audit looks at the whole path, not just the page everyone already agrees is good.

5. You've changed the theme more times than you've changed the funnel logic

A new theme is a design decision. A CRO audit is a behavior decision: what's actually causing hesitation, and where. It's common for stores to redesign repeatedly while the actual points of drop-off never get diagnosed, let alone fixed.

If two or more of these sound familiar, the fix usually isn't a redesign. It's a structured audit that tells you exactly where the funnel is losing people, backed by real session data rather than assumptions about what should be converting.
